Bio:
Emily’s therapeutic approach is conveyed with warmth, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard, sensitive to the lived experience of her clients and draws from this experience to inform therapy. She views each client holistically, taking early life experiences into account to better understand the way in which clients function and interact individually and with others. This perspective includes drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, existential-humanistic therapy, Family Systems, Feminist therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Emily’s work with clients is genuine, compassionate, flexible, and collaborative. She views the strong therapeutic bond she creates with her clients as the most important healing pathway for improved emotional experiences that can then be generalized to clients’ lives. Emily is committed to honoring all forms of diversity and promoting equality and dignity through her work. Emily enjoys working with clients of all developmental ages and modalities (individuals, couples, families, groups), while also specializing in working with women on the perinatal spectrum. Her experience in these areas includes conducting individual and group therapy and helping women to understand the context in which they view themselves as women and as mothers and how this may or may not contribute to their distress. Emily finds meaning in practicing with couples and family therapy, as she finds that a more targeted approach to these systems allows for more generalized growth and change. In these approaches, Emily emphasizes the role that each member plays and identifies response patterns that occur within these relationships. Emily also has experience treating depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, identity formation, attachment issues, social anxiety, anger management, and many others.
