Dr. Tara Pundiak Toohey is a Board Certified Adult Psychiatrist with extensive experience in Emergency Psychiatry and Reproductive Psychiatry. She completed her psychiatric residency at NYU Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital and has over 18 years’ experience. She served as faculty at UCSD and University of Hawaii where she served as Director of Medical Education and Patient Care Services for Emergency Psychiatry as well as opened a Reproductive Psychiatry clinic. She volunteered her medical services with the US Navy for three years while living overseas in Japan where she was awarded the Red Cross Volunteer of the Year and received a Letter of Commendation from the United States Navy. She continues to work as a consultant in hospitals and emergency rooms throughout California and Oregon. She currently serves on the Board of the American Association of Emergency Psychiatry and is a member of Postpartum Support International. Dr. Toohey’s boutique private practice is designed to be flexible to a patient's needs. She is knowledgeable in both medication management and psychotherapy. In addition to ongoing care, Dr. Toohey is available for consultation including those related to medication during pregnancy, breastfeeding, fertility treatments, surrogacy, and medication management in complicated medical illnesses.
