Become a Warmline Peer Support Specialist

Help parents feel seen, supported, and less alone as they adjust to pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenting. Warmline Peer Support Specialists carry out our mission to support perinatal parents every day. In this volunteer role, you would provide understanding, encouragement, and resources to help parents navigate perinatal mental health conditions and feel less isolated in their journey.

A person wearing glasses and a striped shirt holds a smiling baby in their arms at the beach, with the ocean and sunlight in the background.
A man with a beard holds a baby against his shoulder. The baby, wearing a striped outfit, looks ahead with a calm expression. The background is neutral and out of focus.
A woman in a green striped outfit is breastfeeding a baby in her arms while sitting near a white crib in a softly lit room.
A woman sits on a bed holding a baby on her lap while talking on a mobile phone. The baby touches her face and looks at her. Both wear light-colored clothes. The background shows soft lighting and blurred photos.

What Does a Warmline Peer Support Specialist Do?

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Return Warmline messages from families seeking support, resources, or referrals
  • Offer empathic listening and peer-based encouragement
  • Share information about perinatal mental health conditions and local resources
  • Receive training and ongoing support from PHA to feel confident in your role

Who Can Volunteer?

We welcome volunteers who:

  • Have personal or professional experience with perinatal mental health conditions
  • Are passionate about supporting families  and reducing stigma around perinatal mental health

Volunteers do not provide therapy or crisis support. Instead, they draw on their lived experience and PHA-provided training to connect parents to resources and remind them they are not alone.

A woman sits at a table using a laptop while holding a baby on her lap. The baby is holding an orange slice. There is a cup and plate on the table, and sunlight comes through a large window in the background.
A woman sits at a table with a laptop, a mug, and a tablet, appearing tired. Two children play energetically in the background in a living room with a couch, wall shelves, and framed pictures.

Why Volunteer?

Serving as a Warmline Peer Support Specialist is a meaningful way to:

  • Give back to your community
  • Help reduce stigma and isolation for parents
  • Grow your knowledge of perinatal mental health resources and supports
