PHA Presents: Reclaiming Intimacy in the Perinatal Period: A Nervous System-Informed Approach

Target Audience: Licensed psychologists and therapists, graduate students, allied mental health professionals, and other providers who work with new parents and families.
Learning Objectives: This workshop is designed to help you:
- Describe key biopsychosocial and neurophysiological factors that influence sexual desire and function during the perinatal period.
- Apply at least three trauma-informed, nervous system–based strategies to support patients in safely re-engaging with intimacy postpartum.
- Identify when referral to interdisciplinary providers (e.g., pelvic physical therapy, sex therapy, mental health) is indicated for comprehensive care.
Course Level: Intermediate
Presenter: Dr. Rose Schlaff is a sexologist, pelvic physical therapist, and pleasure & neuroscience mentor specializing in holistic sexual wellness. Her work integrates neuroscience, somatics, pelvic health, and trauma-informed care to support both individuals and clinicians in understanding desire, pain, and intimacy across the lifespan.
She is the creator of the Reclaim the Flame™ method and has trained healthcare providers internationally, equipping them with evidence-based tools to address libido concerns, reduce sexual pain, and strengthen relational connection.
Continuing Education Credits: 2 CEs will be available for participants who attend this event live via Zoom. To ensure you receive the appropriate credit, please be sure to select the corresponding “CE Ticket Type” when registering for this workshop. CEs will only be granted to participants who attend live and select the correct ticket type.
The Postpartum Health Alliance is approved by the California Psychological Association (CPA) to provide continuing professional education for psychologists. The Postpartum Health Alliance maintains responsibility for this program and its content. CPA CE credit is accepted by the Board of Behavioral Sciences for their licensees. If you are an out-of-state participant or seeking CEs for another license, please check with your licensing board to ensure they accept CPA CEs.
To earn CE credits, we kindly ask that you comply with the following requirements: a) be sure to provide your license number during registration; b) appear on camera during a majority of the workshop so we can verify attendance; and c) take the post-workshop evaluation survey.
This workshop is approved by Postpartum Support International for CE credits for maintaining PMH-C.
Start and End Times: The workshop will begin promptly at 11 am and conclude at 1:00 pm PST. No breaks are scheduled.
Attendance Policy: Please stay for the entire duration of the course. CE Credit and Certificates will not be issued to those who arrive later than 15 minutes after the start time or those who leave early. This policy is strictly enforced to ensure compliance with CPA guidelines.
Can’t attend live but want to learn more? A video recording of the presentation will be made available to all registrants barring any technical issues.
