Solara Calderon

PhD in Clinical PsychologyBio:
As a clinical psychologist, I have significant experience working with adults struggling with various concerns, including perinatal mental health (fertility/pregnancy/postpartum), grief and loss, relationship and attachment difficulties, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, identity development, and challenging life transitions. I have advanced, post-graduate training in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders from Postpartum Support International, and am passionate in walking alongside my clients on their unique fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood journeys. Past clients have described me as genuine, easy to talk to, and non-judgmental. I believe strongly in the power and process of therapy. It takes courage to share your story. With time, the development of a meaningful therapeutic relationship can lead to a greater sense of safety and trust. It can also make space for you to feel supported in working toward your goals, whether that may be to grieve, heal, grow, adapt to a new phase of life, change unhelpful patterns, or find deeper meaning and connection. I provide collaborative, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive psychotherapy. My therapeutic approach integrates psychodynamic interventions with dialectical behavior (DBT) and cognitive-behavioral (CBT) techniques based on the individual goals and needs of each of my clients. Born and raised in New York City, I am passionate in serving diverse, multicultural urban populations. I have extensive experience working with individuals of different ages, gender identities, sexual orientations, races, ethnicities, cultures, and religions. I received my undergraduate degree in psychology, with a minor in creative writing, from Johns Hopkins University. I earned my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York. I completed my predoctoral internship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School and my postdoctoral fellowship at the San Diego Veterans Affairs Healthcare System, where I specialized in trauma-focused psychotherapy with military veterans.
