Bio:
As a new mom to a little girl, working with families and children holds special meaning for me. I know firsthand the challenges of adjusting to new family roles when a baby arrives, the chaos that can ensue the birth and how complicated your feelings can be when reality does not match your expectations, and the healing that is needed when there is loss in the family or complications surrounding conception, delivery, or breastfeeding. My practice is informed by my training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, EMDR, Emotional Freedom Technique, narrative therapy, art therapy, and CBT. I have degrees in psychology, fine art, and marriage and family therapy from Amherst College, Yale University, and San Diego State respectively. I am a life long learner and continually update and deepen my knowledge in the field. I know what a commitment it is to engage in your own therapy. Know that I am equally committed to your health, well being, growth and healing. Any major change in the family results in shifting roles that often leads to a need to reassess and process relationship dynamics and feelings on a deeper level. There are many times when a family needs help from the outside to see the patterns they have fallen into and to asses which are no longer serving them and their loved ones. It is my job to create a safe environment where all members of the family are heard, creating the space to recast family dynamics and relationships so that healing can begin. Maternal mental health is a special interest of mine. Working with mothers to adjust to their new role and new identity as a mother is deeply rewarding work. I've been studying, researching and treating maternal adjustment throughout my graduate studies into the present.
