Ending The Year With A Renewed Mission
Postpartum Health Alliance San Diego providers, supporters and friends,
As we close another year of service to families in our community, we embark on a renewed mission and vision for Postpartum Health Alliance (PHA). Originally established in 1993, PHA has grown and shifted with the times to be the organization in San Diego taking the lead on coordinating providers to support parents and families’ who are impacted by Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs). While looking towards the future, we want to acknowledge the more than twenty years of effort, knowledge and support that has gotten us this far.
This past year, the PHA Board engaged in a strategic re-visioning process, to enhance our strengths and focus our efforts on behalf of the San Diego families we serve. Our new organizational vision is that:
All families in San Diego County will feel well prepared and have access to informed professional care for the emotional and mental changes that occur during the transition to parenthood.
Our renewed mission is to:
Increase the capacity of San Diego’s perinatal health service community to recognize, understand, and respond effectively to the mental health of pregnant and postpartum mothers, fathers and their families.
Our charge is more clearly focused on our membership and supporting their work to increase our system capacity in San Diego. We believe by training, awareness building, educating and being a convener for providers we can enhance and deepen all of our work with families. This is an exciting time for PHA and we are thankful for your support and generosity over the years.
At this point, you might be wondering, what can I do to help?
If so, here are three things PHA could use your help to launch us into a successful new year:
- Donate – every dollar counts and increases our ability to do more education/training/awareness building in places where there is a need.
- Become a member (or renew your membership) – individual, organizational and student memberships are available on our website under Membership.
- Volunteer – Dedicated volunteers are especially needed for our Warmline, Events Committee and daily operations. Click Here To Volunteer
In 2017, we look forward to being a catalyst for increased capacity in the San Diego perinatal mental health community. Together, with your support families experiencing a PMAD will be connected to care, aware of the resources and providers will have the knowledge they need to serve effectively. Happy holidays and here’s the start of a wonderful and prosperous new year!
